A brief history of the area
Brits had its origins on the farm Roode Kopjes (Red Hills) in 1924 and was named after the farm owner, Gert Brits. The area was given a boost when Hartbeespoort Dam opened in 1923, supplying farmlands around Brits with water. Brits has also developed as part of South Africa's platinum belt. Together with Rustenburg, it produces more platinum than any other single area in the world.

As a Brits resident, you can travel 51 minutes (51 km) to reach Lanseria International Airport. Brits is also close to other points of interest such as Hartbeespoort (30 minutes, 24,3 km), Pretoria (61 minutes, 60,8 km), and Rustenburg (63 minutes, 73,5 km). This proximity makes it popular for local day visitors and international tourists.

With its year-round sunny weather, Brits is ideal for growing a beautiful garden or trips into the outdoors. The average annual temperature in Brits is 19.4 °C; January is the hottest month of the year at an average temperature of 23.5 °C. Although the area sees little rainfall, residents will get some relief in December, with an average of 118 mm.
Schools in the area
Brits offers excellent educational institutions to ensure your child has a bright future. They can start at preschools including Kiewietnes Kleuterskool and Spiekeries Kleuterskool. Primary schools include Laerskool Brits, Thornhill Primary School, and Laerskool Olienpark. When it comes time for high school, they can enrol at Hoërskool Brits, Die Hoërskool Wagpos, Eagle Christian College, or Central Secondary School. Combined school options include Rabboni Christian School and Lighthouse Christian College.

For treatment, you can visit Mediclinic Brits Hospital, a private hospital that provides first-aid assistance or emergency services. The Brits District Hospital is a high-tech facility that provides services including an accident, emergency and crisis centre; surgical and medical wards; paediatric and neonatal high care, and more.
