Rooihuiskraal North, Centurion

The suburb of Rooihuiskraal North which is situated to the West of Centurion is one of the more established areas with beautiful gardens and plenty of trees as well as offering new developments. The older areas of Rooihuiskraal North such as Wierda Glen Estate are very well established. However, the newer areas such as Amberfield are still fairly new. The Estates making up Amberfield includes Amberfield Glen Estate, Amberfield Heights Estate, Amberfield Manor Estate, Amberfield Ridge Estate and Amberfield Valley Estate. Wierda Crest Estate is a fairly new development in Rooihuiskraal North, and is situated just East of Wierda Glen Estate. The suburb consists of approximately 3,887 houses and 4,291 townhouses. The suburb is popular with the middle class as well as young buyers who want modern accommodation as it is very centrally situated in Centurion in terms of accessibility to the Highways, with the Reds Mall being just around the corner. The type of properties varies and includes houses, townhouses, duets, apartments, vacant land, clusters, guesthouses, security estates and new developments. The freehold stands range in size from 400 sm to 2,000 sm. The price of houses ranges from R980,000 to R2,700,000 (2012) (Average of R1,213,000) whilst the price of townhouses ranges from R435,000 to R2,000,000 (2012) (Average of R704,000). The property owners in Rooihuiskraal North are extremely stable as 57% of the owners have lived in their houses for more than 5 years. Considering that a large part of Rooihuiskraal North is mainly new developments in the various Amberfield Estates, this is an excellent indicator of the area.

The suburb is bordered by the Louisa Road and Pongola Street (Wierda Park)) to the North, Old Johannesburg Road (R101) to the East, Rietspruit (Heuweloord) to the West and the N14 to the South.

Due to the fact that Rooihuiskraal North is partly old and partly new, most of the older properties have large well established wooded gardens whilst the newer properties are still establishing gardens. Residents prefer Rooihuiskraal North for its convenient location, variety of dwellings and modern dwellings. The Gautrain Bus service runs through Rooihuiskraal North to the Gautrain Centurion station.

Shopping Centres in the immediate vicinity include the Reds Mall, Centurion Lifestyle Centre, Centurion Mall, Sutherland shopping Centre, Koedoe Arcade and Wierda Two Centre. The area also has a number of smaller shopping centres with the usual cafes and convenience stores.

Sports facilities in Rooihuiskraal North and the surrounding suburbs include ballet, virgin active gym, golf, golf driving range, squash, karate, dancing, badminton, wrestling, pigeon racing, athletics and tennis etc.

Rooihuiskraal North is central to a number of schools including Rooihuiskraal Primary, Uitsig High, Eldoraigne High, Sutherland High, Zwartkop High, Bakenkop Primary, Hennopspark Primary, Springvale Primary, Cresta College, Montessori, and Wierda Park Primary. There are also sixty three Nursery Schools and crèches in Rooihuiskraal, Rooihuiskraal North and Wierda Park.

Rooihuiskraal North has a one public park, but access to many more in Wierda Park and Eldoraigne. The closest Post Office is the Wierda Park Post Office on the corner of Willem Botha Street and Ruimte Road or the Rooihuiskraal Post Office on Rooihuiskraal Road. The nearest library is situated in Eldoraigne on Ireland Avenue, or the Rooihuiskraal library on Hofsanger Road. The only Guesthouse is the Condor Guesthouse, although Eldoraigne and Wierda Park have fifteen Guest Houses.

Churches in the area include Baptist, Gereformeerde, NG, AGS, Christ is the way, New Life, Methodist, Apostolic, etc. The Bakenkop Medical Centre and Wierda Park Day Clinic are situated in Wierda Park and the Medicross is in Eldoraigne whilst the Unitas hospital (Lyttelton) is about 6km from Rooihuiskraal north. The Provincial clinics are situated in Eldoraigne and Rooihuiskraal.

Rooihuiskraal North also offers easy access to the N1 and N14, for commuters travelling by car to either Pretoria, Midrand, Kempton Park, Johannesburg, Krugersdorp, OR Tambo International Airport as well as Lanseria Airport.

The closest police station is the Wierda Bridge Police Station situated in Valhalla.
