A brief history of the area
The suburb of Milnerton came into existence in 1902 and gets its name from Sir Alfred Milner, who was governor of the Cape Colony from 1897 to 1901. One of Milnerton's iconic landmarks - its lighthouse - dates back to 1960, when it was built to prevent further shipwrecks along the Cape coast.

Climate
As part of the Western Cape, Milnerton enjoys warm, dry summer months between December and March. During summer, the mercury typically rises into the high 20s or low to mid 30s on any given day. The winter months of June, July and August are Milnerton's rainy months, and the temperature on a typical day will rise into the mid to high teens or low 20s.
