Darrenwood, Randburg

Darrenwood is a small predominantly residential suburb in the Randburg area in Johannesburg. It lies against the boundary of the city just west of Linden behind Cresta Centre. Neighbouring or nearby suburbs include Linden, Victory Park, Cresta, Risidale, Northcliff and Blackheath.

The leafy pretty suburb is well positioned and central to all amenities with the N1 Highway only three minutes away. Established in the 1960s, Darrenwood is formed by a series of avenues and crescents and is a quiet and peaceful area despite its proximity to the N1.

The suburb is very close to numerous sports and bowling facilities. Darrenwood Tennis Club is a well-established club, with regular social tennis over weekends for players of all abilities. The popular Darrenwood Sports Centre is centrally situated and the nearby Randpark Golf Club offers golfers two of the finest courses in South Africa. Darrenwood Dam is a well-known landmark and just south of Darrenwood are the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens. The Emmarentia Dam and Sailing Club are only a few kilometres away.

The area is well treed and the Braamfontein Spruit, which has small streams that trickle through the suburbs, runs through parts of the Darrenwood area, adding to the green ambience.

The Brightwater Commons, one of Johannesburg's better-known entertainment, restaurant and shopping centres and the landmark Cresta shopping centre are only a few blocks away.

There are a number of good schools in the vicinity of Darrenwood including some excellent private schools.
