ABOUT POLOKWANE:
The city of Polokwane, meaning “Place of Safety” (previously called Pietersburg), is located in the Limpopo Province. Being the capital of the Limpopo Province, Polokwane is the largest metropolitan complex in the Great North and a major economic center. Polokwane is home to more than 800 000 inhabitants and also the gateway to Africa via the N1. Polokwane is one of the fastest-growing cities and services the surrounding rural and farming areas with business infrastructure.
Polokwane is well known for its excellent schools and boasts its own game reserve, an outdoor lifestyle and a fantastic range of shopping malls, shops, restaurants, pubs and quality medical facilities. There are many activities in town or in close proximity for young and old to enjoy. These include museums, bush craft, fly fishing and canopy tours, amongst others.
Polokwane is divided into 9 residential districts, namely Westenburg, Seshego, Nirvana, Bendor, Flora Park, Fauna Park, Penina Park, Hospital Park and Ster Park. There are currently around 35 000 properties in Polokwane, with the most buyers during the last 12 months in the 36-49 age group. Approximately 1900 properties were registered in Polokwane during 2020. The property market in Polokwane is fairly stable at present taking the current state of the economy into account.
Property for sale / to rent in Polokwane ranges from low-cost housing to security estates, such as Cycad Estate, Bendor Village, Woodlands and Broadlands. The diverse selection of properties in Polokwane ranges from large older homes on big stands to modern townhouses and complexes in security estates. There are also a large number of smallholdings and farms surrounding Polokwane for sale. Although there is a higher demand for sectional title than for freehold property in Polokwane, freehold is still very popular. The most popular area in Polokwane is the Bendor area, which is also the suburb with the highest amount of sales. The most active price range for sales in Polokwane is between R800 000 and R1.5 million, which is closely followed by the R400 000 to R800 000 price range.
