Welcome to Seeff Riviersonderend

Registered with the PPRA
Riviersonderend is a village in the Overberg region of the Western Cape of South Africa, about 140kms east of Cape Town. It is located on a loop of the Sonderend River, from which it takes its name.

Is situated halfway between Cape Town and Mosselbay on the N2. The area offers the tranquility of beautiful mountain and river scenery. It is well known for its warm and friendly rural atmosphere and outstanding good hospitality and low crime rate.

It has a Mediterranean climate which give rise to the huge flocks of Blue Crane, South Africa's national bird and one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Overberg.

Driving form Caledon to Riviersonderend and onward to Swellendam, you will experience the rolling green hills in the winter with a touch of eye catching bright yellow canola in between. In the summer, the different shades of brown stubblefields, with a touch of green from the established pastures, appear like a patchwork quilt.

The magnificent Riviersonderend River which flows from Theewaterskloof dam to the Breede River on the other side of Stormsvlei and the numerous mountain streams, provide enough water for the citrus and vegetables farms. You will hear the gentle sounds of cows, sheep and many birds' songs. The smell of fynbos, roses and freshly ploughed fields will welcome you.

Riviersonderend as proper town was established in 1922, when Ms Edith McIntyre sold her farm Tierhoek to the church council. At first they wanted to name Riviersonderend "Nuwedorp" ("New Town"), but the older residents wanted "Rivier Zonder End" from the Hessequa word, Kamma-kam-kanna (water, never ending water).

The town offers many unique properties including Cape Dutch and Victorian architecture. The combination of the beautiful architectures and big stands make these country properties very sought after.

Riviersonderend offers a wide range of property, from residential to commercial and farms. Seeff Riviersonderend offers unique local area insight and our team of real estate agents can assist with all your property needs, from sales and rentals and investments.
