Chapman’s Peak Drive is one of the most scenic and beautiful drives in the world and one of the most popular attractions of the Mother City.
Chapman's Peak Drive is affectionately known as Chappies. It was constructed in the early 1900's and winds its way between Noordhoek and Hout Bay.
Chappies has undergone a number of upgrades throughout the years that have earned it a number of awards for excellent engineering and innovative design.
Chapman's Peak Drive is a toll road where tariffs are applicable in each direction. The tariff for a light motor vehicle is R45 and R29 for a motorcycle. There are also special discount tariffs for regular users. Visit the official website to find out more about the frequent user benefits.
Chappies is also open for cycling, running and hiking.
There is a Chapman’s Peak Day Pass or Picnic Voucher that allows you to use part of Chapman’s Peak Drive for free and is valid for use of the designated picnic areas, viewing spots and mountain trails along the road. You will the pass at the entrance and will be advised where to park.
The Day Pass is valid during the following hours:
Summer (Oct – Mar) - 06:00 - 20:00
Winter (Apr – Sep) - 07:00 - 18:30
