As 2024 draws to a close, we at Seeff are working hard to ensure we finish the year
on an all-time high! This year has been one of growth and expansion, not only in
terms of our office space but also in the size and strength of our team. If 2024 was
the year of more, it has certainly set the stage for even greater success as we look
ahead to 2025. We are excited to soon share a sneak peek of our new office with
you, and we are optimistic about the future.
A Look Ahead: Interest Rates and Affordability
Although the year is fast winding down, we remain hopeful that interest rates will see
another cut at the end of the month. A potential reduction of half a basis point could
significantly improve affordability for potential buyers, making it easier to secure that
dream home. Whether you are looking to buy or rent, our team of dedicated agents
will be available throughout the festive period to assist with all your real estate
needs.
Remembering Roleen de Winnaar
As we approach the holiday season, it is a time to reflect on the value of life and the
importance of our relationships. Sadly, we recently lost one of our valued agents,
Roleen de Winnaar, who fought bravely against cancer. Our thoughts are with her
family during this difficult time. We honor and salute Roleen for her unwavering
positivity, even in the face of such hardship. This loss serves as a poignant reminder
to cherish our loved ones and to work hard at building meaningful connections with
those around us.
Holiday Safety Tips for Your Home
With Christmas just around the corner, many of us are preparing to take a well-
deserved break. While you are out of town, it’s essential to make sure your home
remains safe and secure. The festive season often brings a quieter atmosphere to
our streets, which can unfortunately make our homes more vulnerable. To help
safeguard your property, we have compiled a list of home security tips to follow before
you head off on holiday:
1. Hand Over a Spare Set of Keys – Leave a spare set of keys with a trusted
neighbor or friend, along with your contact information and the details of your
security service provider.
2. Check Your Security Systems – Ensure that your alarm system and any other
perimeter defenses are in good working order. If you notice any issues, contact your
security provider immediately.
3. Secure All Entry Points – Before leaving, double-check that all windows and doors
are locked, security gates are fastened, and your alarm system is armed.
4. Unplug Electronics and Turn Off Utilities – Unplug electrical devices, turn off the
water supply, and deactivate automatic timers for pool lights or other amenities.
5. Set Timers for Lights – Use timers to turn your indoor and outdoor lights on and
off, creating the illusion that someone is home.
6. Consider CCTV – Install a CCTV system that connects to your smartphone so you
can monitor your home remotely, both inside and out.
7. Ask a Neighbor to Collect Your Mail – Prevent a build-up of mail and flyers by
asking a neighbor to collect them regularly.
8. Make Arrangements for Pets – If you’re not using a kennel, arrange for a trusted
house or pet sitter to care for your pets and home.
9. Review Your Insurance Coverage – Ensure your home and belongings are fully
covered in case of any unfortunate incidents.
10. Maintain Your Lawn – Have someone mow your lawn while you’re away to avoid
signaling that your home is vacant.
11. Trim Overgrown Vegetation – Cut back any plants or trees that could provide
cover for intruders.
12. Secure Your Valuables – Hide valuable items such as electronics and important
documents in a secure, concealed location.
13. Park in a Secure Area – If possible, park your car in a garage or secure parking
area to keep it out of view from potential thieves.
14. Have Essential Contacts Ready – Keep a list of important contacts handy, and
consider adding emergency response apps to your phone for quick access.
15. Verify Visitors – Always verify the identity of anyone who visits your home,
including those claiming to be from utility companies or service providers.
Support the SANBS Blood Drive
In the spirit of giving, we encourage you to support a fantastic cause this holiday
season. Our friends at Remax, in partnership with the South African National Blood
Service (SANBS), are hosting a blood drive on 3 December 2024 at the Remax
offices. Their goal is to collect 150 units of blood, and every donation can make a
life-saving difference. Make sure to diarize the date and join us in supporting this
noble initiative.
Wishing You a Joyous Festive Season
As we wrap up 2024, we want to extend our warmest wishes to all our clients,
colleagues, and partners. May your festive season be filled with joy, peace, and
cherished moments with loved ones. If you are traveling, we wish you safe journeys
and a restful, rejuvenating holiday.
Remember to take care of your home and loved ones, and let’s all strive to bring
peace, love, and joy into the new year. Here’s to a successful 2025!
