The picturesque community of Drummond is renowned for its stunning vistas and exquisite properties, providing a peaceful living environment for its residents. Impala Ridge Farm, a charming farm shop and coffee house, was established in this serene locality. The business has garnered a reputation in the area for its delectable treats and convenient delivery services that cater to the needs of the local residents.
How was the Impala Ridge Farm established?
Impala Ridge Farm was established during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 to assist the community of KwaZulu-Natal in obtaining food during the global shutdown. Collaborating with farmers in the Midlands area, the business swiftly developed a website and began operating, with an uncertain future at the time.
The owners opened a small stall in Drummond in February 2021. However, due to the riots that occurred later that year, they were compelled to relocate to their farm nearby for safety reasons. Despite the short-term setup, the response was outstanding, and they decided to expand and develop from there.
Since its inception, Impala Ridge Farm has remained steadfast in its commitment to supporting local small businesses and farms, even though organic produce is not always attainable. As the Farm persevered and evolved, it added new team members and formed personal relationships with its loyal customers and suppliers in Drummond and surrounding areas.
How do their delivery services work?
Impala Ridge Farm is dedicated to ensuring that its customers have access to fresh and high-quality products, and the weekly produce box subscriptions are a perfect way for locals to receive a regular supply of nutritious and delicious fruits and vegetables. These boxes include special bakery treats, dairy, and dry stock, providing customers with a diverse and well-rounded selection of food items.
The Farm offers two options for the produce boxes: a large box and a small box. Customers can sign up for a monthly subscription that is delivered straight to their doorstep, ensuring that they always have fresh produce on hand without the need to leave their homes. This convenience has become especially important during the pandemic when many people prefer to minimize their trips to the grocery store.
For customers who still prefer to do their weekly top-up shopping in person, Impala Ridge Farm opens its doors for in-store trade on Thursdays. This allows customers to browse through the available produce, pick out their favourite items, and interact with the friendly staff who are always ready to assist and provide advice.
How can you get involved?
Impala Ridge Farm's commitment to supporting local small businesses and farms is reflected in its dedication to providing high-quality products to its customers. The Inundo Development is one of the organisations that Impala Ridge Farm partners with, providing organically grown produce right on their doorstep. In addition to growing high-quality produce, they also work towards creating self-sustainable communities and job opportunities by offering training and resources.
As a non-profit organization, Inundo relies on the support of the community to continue its valuable work. By purchasing produce boxes from Impala Ridge Farm, customers not only support the Farm but also help Inundo Development and their mission.
However, Inundo Development is in need of extra hands to assist with their community work. If you are in a position to donate, please consider supporting their cause. Your donation will not only help to keep the farmers growing and support local communities, but it will also contribute to job creation and make organic food more affordable to those in need.
Let's come together to support our farmers, promote sustainable practices, and help the Drummond community thrive.
