There is currently a shortage of stock in the Strand and Gordon’s Bay area, particularly two and three-bedroomed homes and apartments in secure complexes, says Gerber, adding that well-priced, pet-friendly properties with parking are also in high demand.

There is also an opportunity for rental investors with properties priced between R950,000 and R1.6 million being ideal for rental investments, says Gerber. These units can achieve rental income of R7,000 to R10,000 per month, depending on the location, condition, and amenities. They also offer solid yields and strong tenant demand. Rental rates typically escalate at between 5%-6% per annum while gross yields range between 8%-10%, depending on the property type and purchase price.
