These are the best suburbs in George

Choosing a new home is always a challenge. You have to consider more than just the land or house itself. The area plays a very important part in your decision. Depending on your needs, you have to think about access to good schools, transport, places of worship, and more.

One area ticks all of the boxes. Living in George in the Western Cape provides tranquil living with plenty to do. Residents enjoy kite and strawberry festivals, farmers' markets, cycle tours, and park runs, to name a few of its events. An economic hub, George's economy is driven by mainly finance, insurance, real estate, and business services.

Seeff's Licensee/Principal, Pieter Jordaan, has great insight into George. As a real estate expert, here are his picks for the best suburbs in George you'd be interested in.

Bergsig

Ideal if you're a pet owner, middle-aged professional, or have a family.

Translating to 'mountain view', Bergsig truly lives up to its name. It provides exceptional views that can be enjoyed by many properties in the area.

"Bergsig, together with Eden and Camphersdrift, are the most well-established areas in George," says Jordaan. "They're great if you prefer large stands (plots) with gardens and trees overlooking the stunning Outeniqua mountains."

Bergsig has an 'easy access' factor that will draw you in. Quality schools like Outeniqua Primary School, Glenwood House School, and Outeniqua High School are only five minutes away from Bergsig central. There is a range of healthcare options like general practitioners, chiropractors, and physiotherapists. For all your everyday shopping, you can visit Wellington Square, Paddagat Shopping Centre, George Loerie Centre, the Eden Meander Lifestyle Center, or travel to the Garden Route Mall.

Bergsig lies close to George's popular attractions. The suburb is a stone's throw away from the Outeniqua Transport Museum, a railway museum. The dog-friendly Katrivier Nature Reserve Path is a moderately trafficked loop trail, perfect to stay fit. Other nearby natural escapes include the Outeniqua Trail and the Wilderness National Park.

Camphersdrift

Ideal if you're a pet owner, middle-aged professional, or have a family.

This sought-after George suburb is close to several popular attractions. These include the Garden Route Botanical Garden, George Museum, Ground Zero Bike and Trail Park, and George Golf Club. With a strong community atmosphere, it's the perfect place to raise a family or get involved.

For pet lovers, Vet + More supply shop, the George Animal Hospital, and the Garden Route Animal Hospital are all within a 10-minute drive.

If you're religious, there are many places of worship. There are churches dedicated to Methodists, Presbyterians, and Catholics close by. Muslims can practice at the Masjidur-Rahma or Masjid Nur.

Eden

Ideal if you're a pet owner, middle-aged professional, or have a family.

If you love nature, you'll want to move to Eden. This leafy George suburb is a short distance from the scenic Katrivier and Katrivier Nature Reserve.

Eden is only 10 minutes away from George central. A quick drive will get you to shops, schools, restaurants, and religious venues.

Seeff's Eden homes for sale feature the natural beauty you'd expect from the area. Whether you're looking for a three-bedroom home with a mountain view or a five-bedroom home complete with a cinema and a jacuzzi, you'll find it in this upmarket neighbourhood. And with little traffic and ample birdlife, the Eden suburb offers peace and tranquillity for those fortunate enough to live here.

Kingswood Golf Estate

Ideal if you're an up-and-coming professional, golfer, or business person.

Families will enjoy comfortable living at Kingswood Golf Estate. It boasts child-friendly amenities like a mini cricket oval and a jungle gym. It's also close to schools. Step out of the estate and you'll have access to museums, art galleries, beaches and the Garden Route Mall. This popular estate in George has one demographic firmly in mind, though.

"Kingswood is for the golf lover," says Jordaan. "Most buyers are professionals between 30 and 50 years of age."

Kingswood is known for its 18-hole championship golf course. With an award-winning status, the course is used by Sunshine Tour Players when they are not on tour. The Sally Little signature golf course was designed by Danie Obermeyer and includes all the facilities a golfer needs to play their best game.

Lying at the base of the picturesque Outeniqua Mountain range, Kingswood Golf Estate residents enjoy a stellar view. Properties on the estate blend harmoniously with large tracts of lush open area.

Kraaibosch Country Estate

Ideal if you're an up-and-coming professional, middle-aged professional, or have a family.

"This is a secure estate on the eastern border of George," says Jordaan. "It's truly an area that has exploded over the last few years."

It's not difficult to see why. With its lovely Cape Village style houses and manicured lawns, Kraaibosch Country Estate is the epitome of class. It's close to major George shopping centres and delights a prospective buyer with low levies and breathtaking mountain views. Kraaibosch Country Estate also lies in one of the safest suburbs in George. The estate offers biometric access, a fully fenced environment, and boasts 24-hour security at each entrance.

According to Jordaan, Kraaibosch Country Estate is a practical move for middle-aged families.

"Many Kraaibosch buyers have exchanged their larger properties for this safer environment. It's their move before they switch to a retirement village."

Kraaibosch has good resale values. Early buyers have already sold their properties at a solid profit. However, it makes for such a great stay, you'd think twice before selling.
