The Country Vegan Food & Craft Market is a pleasant place to unwind in the countryside. Every month on the last Sunday, the tranquil market is hosted at Roseway Waldorf School in Alverstone. At the market, you can enjoy a day of shopping, listen to a local musician, and indulge in delectable vegan cuisine. The location also boasts wonderful scenery and surroundings.

The market was created to provide vegans with a safe space to shop where they could be sure that all goods were manufactured ethically and with consideration for the environment. The goal was to offer a fun location for people who are curious about learning more about the vegan lifestyle and trying out different dishes.

Focus on healthy living

Generally, a yoga lesson kicks off the day, followed by delicious food, live music, and other interesting vendors. Due to the market's emphasis on healthy living, it is an alcohol-free zone.

The Country Vegan Food & Craft Market is a trustworthy venue where customers don't have to second-guess their purchase. Before being permitted to sell at the markets, all vendors are required to submit a list of their ingredients for review.

Origins of the market

The first KZN Vegan Food & Craft Market, organised by Catherine Phillips, had 30 stalls selling vegan food, beverages, sweet treats, plants, arts and crafts, and other goods. 500 people were greeted at the market, and before noon, all of the food was sold.

The market was held bimonthly at Bothas Hill, but in February 2019 it had to find a new location. It did so in the Golden Hours Market location in Durban North. The market attracted between 1500 and 2000 patrons and 90 stallholders by the end of 2019.

The vegan market in Durban North did not withstand the present economic climate, while the Country Vegan Market in Hillcrest started to garner more patronage.

What you can expect from the market

If you're searching for the freshest veggies in KZN, Pauls Foodscapes is your go-to place. At this stand, you may get spinach, kale, or carrots for as cheap as R10. Delicious biryani and bunny chows are served in the market by Simply Megalicious. You may also stop by Veg On The Move for freshly produced fruit juices and smoothies, or Designer Water has alkaline water on hand if you're thirsty.

You may get jams and Okja Chocolate spread from GMA Foods if you have a sweet craving. A variety of sauces and spices are also available. For all skin types, Functional Soaps has a variety of all-natural therapeutic soaps.

Are you looking for environmentally friendly artwork? The market is home to some stunning original mixed-media pieces by Swess Artistry. Additionally, Hope Farm Crafts offers a stunning selection of ceramics and other crafts, along with exquisite nativity scenes. Visit the Clarke Designs booth if you're interested in some laser-cut items.
