The World of Birds and Monkey Park is the largest bird park in Africa and is a nature and bird lover's paradise with over 3000 birds and small animals.
Situated in the Hout Bay Valley on over 4ha of land, the World of Birds performs an important service as a haven for sick and injured birds and small animals. In its more than 40 years of existence, the World of Birds has assisted more than 40000 animals.
Take a stroll through the aviaries, bring your camera for amazing photo opportunities and enjoy direct contact with 38 adorable and inquisitive squirrel monkeys.
World of Birds offers the perfect opportunity to spend quality time with the whole family and learn about hundreds of different bird and animal species. Children's pushcarts are available for hire at R20 each. There is also a children's playground for when you need a rest.
There is also a small cafe on site called the Robin's Nest that offers drinks, light meals and snacks. You are welcome to bring your own picnic basket. There is also a curio shop that sells a wide variety of souvenirs and mementos.
A prime piece of land has been put on the market at World of Birds as part of a critical fundraising initiative to keep this beloved organisation and global attraction operational. The plot is 4000m2 and is expected to sell for about R2.5 million.
If you are interested in supporting World of Birds to ensure that they stay open and running, you can sponsor an aviary, make a donation or become a member, which grants you free entry at any time to the Sanctuary for a year. For further details, visit their official website.
